At the southern end of the Golden Corridor lies the metropolitan area of Tucson. And although the majority of Arizona's largest high-technology companies are located in the greater Phoenix area, Tucson is gaining a stronger presence every day. Of the 50 fastest growing high-technology firms in the state, 16 of those companies -- including 4 of the top 15 -- have chosen Tucson as the place to expand their operations. Why? An excellent, highly skilled labor base is one good reason. The community to also large enough to attract major raw material suppliers and offers a wide selection of available industrial space. Being close to the Mexican border is another advantage of the Tucson area -- trade between the U.S. and Mexico is accelerating and should continue to build over the next few decades and beyond.
